That is why community care must evolve past basic supervision and focus heavily on empowerment and skill-building.

- Authentic Youth Engagement: We must move away from making decisions for foster youth and start making decisions with them. - Cultivating Chosen Kinship:Â Legal ties are not the only things that bind a family. Mentors, teachers, caseworkers, former foster parents, and community advocates form a “circle of support” that doesn’t expire when a youth reaches adulthood. These lifelong relational bonds provide the emotional security everyone needs to thrive.
